A. Hatzopoulos S.A. and Jindal Films present a Fully Recyclable Coffee Packaging Solution at FACHPACK 2025.

We are thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Jindal Films, presenting a novel, fully recyclable flexible packaging solution for coffee at FACHPACK 2025. The innovative packaging is a quad-seal bag designed specifically for coffee applications and delivers exceptional protection for coffee aroma and flavor while meeting the latest industry standards for recyclability and sustainability.

Mono-material, all-PE Recyclable solution based on X-CYCLE™

At the heart of this solution is X-CYCLE™ PE, A. Hatzopoulos S.A.’s range of mono-material all-PE recyclable films, engineered in full alignment with the latest industry directives for flexible packaging design for recycling. Developed with the purpose of replacing conventional multi-material coffee packaging structures X-CYCLE™ films combine high-barrier properties with outstanding performance on high-speed packaging lines, ensuring that brands can embrace sustainable packaging without any compromise.

The high-end X-CYCLE™ materials created specifically for the coffee market provide robust barriers against oxygen, aroma, and water vapor. This way coffee quality is preserved, and its rich flavors remain vibrant for extended periods, ensuring a long shelf-life.

The packaging offers even more environmental advantages, achieving an estimated 25% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional multi-material films. By adopting a mono-material PE design and streamlining material use, the solution lowers the overall carbon footprint of the packaging, supporting brand owners in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet ambitious sustainability targets.

Jindal Films’ Ethy-Lyte™ 25HD800 film

This solution was made possible thanks to Jindal Films’ expertise in high-performance films, and in particular the use of their Ethy-Lyte™ 25HD800 film within the structure. Ethy-Lyte™ 25HD800 is a transparent, high-barrier bi-oriented high-density polyethylene (BOPE) printing film, one side coated with EVOH, offering excellent gas and aroma protection. Designed to serve as an outer printing web for lamination with PE sealing films, it enables the creation of recyclable, 2-ply mono-PE laminates.

Jindal Films’ innovative material know-how and technical support were key in ensuring that the final design delivers the required barrier performance, processing efficiency, and recyclability, helping turn this concept into a fully functional, market-ready packaging solution.

We would like to sincerely thank Jindal Films for their invaluable contribution and look forward to future collaborations that will continue driving our industry toward circularity.
