A Successful Collaboration of A. Hatzopoulos and Terra Etica | Café Michel: Introducing Fully Recyclable Coffee Packaging in France.
We are excited to announce the successful completion of a two-year collaboration with Terra Etica | Café Michel, which has resulted in a sustainable packaging solution that is 100% recyclable and perfectly aligned with the French recycling channels. The packaging was made possible through the use of our X-CYCLE™ line of recyclable films, marking a significant milestone for the French coffee industry in regards to attaining sustainability goals.
The new packaging, crafted from a mono-material PE (polyethylene) film, is fully recyclable within the existing French recycling system. This solution not only meets the highest sustainability standards but also excels in preserving the rich aroma and quality of coffee—a critical aspect for the coffee industry. The journey to this innovation involved extensive research, continuous testing, and close collaboration with Terra Etica | Café Michel to ensure that the final product not only meets but exceeds the demands of the coffee market.
Throughout the development process, we worked diligently to perfect the film’s performance on packaging lines, achieving optimal productivity without compromising on aesthetics or the protection of the coffee stored inside, which is one of the key points of our X-CYCLE™ line of films. The result is a packaging solution that combines full recyclability with exceptional barrier properties, effectively safeguarding the freshness and flavor of the coffee, while also providing remarkable shelf-appeal.
This collaboration represents a significant step forward for the French coffee industry, demonstrating that sustainable packaging solutions can meet high performance standards. At A. Hatzopoulos S.A., we are committed to developing innovative films that leverage local recycling channels, helping to reduce environmental impact and move towards a truly circular economy. Together with Terra Etica | Café Michel, we are proud to lead the way in setting new benchmarks for sustainability in the French coffee sector.
