A. Hatzopoulos S.A. participated in the 2023 ERA Conference and Awards.

This year, on October 18-20, 2023, the 88th ERA Conference, entitled “International Gravure Days”, took place in Switzerland. The title of the event was not coincidental, since it has been decided for the event to expand in order to also include members outside of Europe. The event took place at the hotel “Hotel Weissenstein”, which is located on the mountain of Solothurn, at an altitude of 1284 meters, near the village of Oberdorf.

Ch. Naziris, General Manager and I. Giannakopoulos, Plant Manager, represented A. Hatzopoulos S.A. at the event, which began on 18.10.23, with the annual Management Meeting & General Assembly.

The next day, 19.10.23, was dedicated to the conference, where various representatives of companies and other entities, discussed various topics on which presentations were made, with issues of sustainability, economy and developments in the industry being included in the agenda. Our company took part in roundtable discussions with a presentation on the topic of “Colour Standardization”.

By the end of the second day the ERA awards and certificates were presented to the new members of the association. A. Hatzopoulos S.A. feels honored for having received a gold award in the “Product Innovation” category for our sustainability-focused X-LOOP packaging solutions.

The award-winning X-LOOP | Bio-circular coffee packaging film is a highly-efficient and recyclable alternative based on the international guidelines for flexible packaging design for recycling, and can be disposed of safely to be recycled again, as it is compatible with the existing recycling stream for polypropylene, which is developed across Europe. It is designed to keep the coffee fresh and to preserve sensitive and delicate flavours and aromas in the long term, thanks to its excellent barrier properties, while offering excellent printability in gravure printing and compatibility with lacquers.

Facilitating plastics’ circularity, the X-LOOP | Bio-circular coffee packaging film incorporates bio-circular content and reduces the strain on natural resources, resulting in lower carbon footprint relative to fossil-based only plastic packaging. Helping build a circular economy and closing the loop on flexible packaging, it offers to coffee brands an innovative solution to meet their ambitious packaging sustainability goals.
